Whether you are newly licensed or have been riding for years, it’s nice to dust off cobwebs or take it back to basics and practice the foundational skills. We will go through the techniques needed to execute maneuvers at low and intermediate speeds with emphasis on smooth machine control. Then as the police and EMS do, we focus our attention on bike control in emergencies and the decision making process needed in these situations by refreshing collision avoidance, controlled optimum braking and trail braking.
Each registrant must meet the following, no exceptions.

COURSE DETAILS
The day begins with a four-hour off road skill-building session, starting with how to pick up your motorcycle by yourself and – better yet – with a partner. We then have a trust exercise with you and your motorcycle. After that we get a chance to really understand clutch control with a fun team balance challenge, followed by learning the art of changing direction by understanding weighting your pegs. Finally, we end the skill building session with braking on gravel. Learn how your ABS feels (if you have that option) in a safe environment and learning this will make you even better if you ever had to stop suddenly on today’s streets.
Then we’re off for a little lunch at the Good Earth cafe in Creekside followed by a lovely off road ride just north of the city where you get the opportunity to test out your newly acquired skills.
This course includes the option to consult with Don of Universal Cycle regarding your bike setup so you can prepare you and your bike for the challenges of off road riding. All you need is a street legal dual purpose motorcycle, proper riding gear and a full tank of gas. If you do not have a bike to use we have three Suzuki DR 650’s that are available for rent at a great rate so you can have fun on one of the best off road machines on the planet. They are lowered and have a wonderful gel seat, and heated grips if it happens to be a little chilly.
