Riding off road has a totally different skill set than is used on pavement.
If you want to be more comfortable riding on gravel roads this is the course for you.
This course will teach you the necessary skills you need to practice to be confident off road.
The day begins with a four-hour off road skill-building session, starting with how to pick up your motorcycle by yourself and – better yet – with a partner. We then have a trust exercise with you and your motorcycle. After that we get a chance to really understand clutch control with a fun team balance challenge, followed by learning the art of changing direction by understanding weighting your pegs.
Finally, we end the skill building session with braking on gravel. Learn how your ABS feels (if you have that option) in a safe environment and learning this will make you even better if you ever had to stop suddenly on today’s streets.
Then we’re off for a little lunch at the Good Earth cafe in Creekside followed by a lovely off road ride just north of the city where you get the opportunity to test out your newly acquired skills.
This course includes the option to consult with Don of Universal Cycle regarding your bike setup so you can prepare you and your bike for the challenges of off road riding.
All you need is a street legal dual purpose motorcycle, proper riding gear and a full tank of gas. If you do not have a bike to use we have three Suzuki DR 650’s that are available for rent at a great rate so you can have fun on one of the best off road machines on the planet. They are lowered and have a wonderful gel seat, and heated grips if it happens to be a little chilly.
After the course you can decide if you would like to join the world of off road riding. Just like we say in our basic course – try it and see if you like it!
